"Feathered Fiend"

Film: The Flying Serpent (1946)

Alias: None

Type: Mystical

Location: Cave/Desert

Height/Weight: That of a large dog.

Affiliation: Neutral

Summary: Imagine the Devil Bat, but even dumber. That's this sorry excuse for an Aztec God for you, right there. And we bring up that flying fox not just in terms of effects, but plot. Just read along...

History: In a way totally not similar to Legosi's character six years ago, archaeologist Andrew Forbes has decided to kill everyone he deems as an enemy. But he's doing it for greed and power, so there, originality! And he's doing it with the help of an ancient creature he somehow managed to capture. It is Quetzalcoatl, an Aztec deity entrusted to guard the treasure of Emperor Montezuma. He clearly did a lousy job of it, as the mortal man controls him to do his bidding by giving his enemies the beast's feathers, whom Quetzy values above all else.

Notable Kills: Nothing special.

Final Fate: Unfortunate Andrew happens to be carrying a feather while out in the open, and Quetzalcoatl dive-bombs him to tear his throat out before getting shot. Some God there, Monty.

Powers/Abilities: A very fast flier.

Weakness: Aside from conventional means, he leaves himself vulnerable whenever he's looking for his feathers.

Scariness Factor: 1-THIS is the great God among Aztecs?! This dumb, stiff kite of a prop that doesn't so much attack as it does crash into everything? Wow. Even the Devil Bat wouldn't take him out for a flight.

Trivia: -We cannot stress this enough, but the actual Quetzalcoatl is...actually quite open to interpretation. He/She's had the form of a winged serpent and a human, and has represented many things, all of them relating to life and prosperity. Oh, and he/she ABHORRED sacrifices in just about every interpretation.

-This film was made by then-notorious B-movie director Samuel Neulfeld, who kept changing his alias as he made about 250 movies over the years. For this one, he was Sherman Scott.
